The most worthy thing is to be comfortable with the bass it comes with and realize that the amp is pretty much useless if you plan on playing with other people (drums etc.) As for oneself, I would recommend either Ibanez- they are pretty easy to play and their cheaper instruments are still pretty good quality. Next, I would say ESP, but you should definitely try to participate as many as you can before you buy one. These packages are a good value if you are practising by yourself or taking to lessons.

I've had the first case for a few months now. It's absolutely fantastic! The bass is VERY well built for the money! Before buying the bass, I didn't really care about Ibanez. I saw this package online because I wanted something nice and cheap to begin with. One of the best decisions I ever made! The bass has yet to go out of tune, believe it or not, the stock strings are very nice and the pickups are over-nice and diverse! Great bass, has absolutely everything for the starter.
